CORPUS CHRISTI - Friends and family got together this morning to remember a man known in the community as "Frank the Birdman." His real name was Frank Seagle. He passed away last month after a heart attack. He worked as a mail carrier until the 1970's and then, for 30 years, pushed an H.E.B. shopping cart around town feeding birds and animals.
Today Frank's family held a memorial service for him where they spread his ashes off the pier at the Arts of Ocean Drive Apartments. Besides helping animals, Frank's brother says he also helped the needy. He says one day Frank sold his car and used that money to buy shoes for children.
"He was just that kind of guy," said brother, George H Brown. "Very simple, easy going he used to call himself the reverend frank seagull but he was a good Christian and he was an awfully good human being and person."
