ARANSAS PASS - Family and friends held a candle-light vigil tonight for a woman found brutally murdered in Ingleside. 35-year-old Maria Deleon was found in a pool of blood, stabbed several times, last week. Police are calling this a case of domestic violence. Deleon's fiance Remus Litoiu is the prime suspect in her death. He's being held on a $750,000 bond.

Friends and family of 35 year old Maria DeLeon gathered only a few feet away from where Maria's body was found, to pay their respects to a woman who left them much too soon.

Maria, who's friends and family sometimes called Anita, was a troublemaker, who liked to play pranks on her sisters.

"Strong, very straight forward, sharp, sharp on the tongue. Very comical. Spoiled rotten," said Nancy Gonzales, one of Maria's sisters.

One friends told a story of when one of Maria's friends was the target of a practical joke.

"Her and Anita start laughing, Anita has to run inside because she's laughing too hard. So, there's your smile. Anita just put it on your face again."

The youngest of the sisters, Maria's family fought back tears and tried to remember the good times they had with her.

"And to my little sister, who I love very much, who was my best friend, that I'm going to miss her so much, but I know she's going to be there with my mom."

After losing their mother just a few months ago, these sisters are struggling with Maria's death.

"But when they took our little sister the way they took her, that's not acceptable."

With the candles lit, and happy memories fresh in their minds, this crime scene no longer felt cold, as a peace settled over the crowd.

There's a rosary for Maria tomorrow at the Charlie Marshall funeral home in Aransas Pass at 7 o'clock.
Her funeral will be this Tuesday.
