CORPUS CHRISTI - Police arrested a 55-year-old man Friday night after a standoff. They say Juan Medina shot at a 32-year-old woman with a pistol.
The woman wasn't harmed and was able to get away from Medina. She told police an argument between the suspect and herself escalated and that's when Media shot once in her direction. The standoff began when police responded to the disturbance call on the 1800 block of Talisman.
At the house, Medina, who the woman said was intoxicated, barricaded himself inside the home, armed with a pistol. Corpus Christi SWAT team and the Hostage Negotiating team blocked portions of Niagra Street and Talisman Street and surrounded the house.
Police evacuated neighbors around the scene from their homes as a precautionary measure. About two hours after police responded to the initial call, they arrested Medina and charged him with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and unlawful restraint.
