Free Adoption Event at Corpus Christi Animal Care

CORPUS CHRISTI - Animal Care Services is offering free pet adoptions this Saturday and Sunday as they aim to win a grant in the Rachel Ray 100K Challenge.

Officials say an anonymous donor made it possible for them to waive adoption fees for this weekend from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 2626 Holly Road.

The costs of spay/neuter, city registration, micro chipping and vaccines will be covered.

The department is going all out with the family fun event featuring games, a bounce house, music and food. Officials is requesting people to bring a donation of kitty litter to help out the facility.

Animal Care Services aims to earn up to $100,000 in grant money by adopting out more than 700 animals before the summer ends. The goal is to use the funds for larger cages and to increase spay/neuter efforts in the city.
