CORPUS CHRISTI - The wedding planner accused of scamming brides and writing hot checks asked for a lower bond. He was denied.
Justin Lee Olle entered the courtroom Friday morning with his hands and feet in chains looking quite upset. According Randy Wilbanks, who's wife is Olle's former step mother, he rightfully should be.
"Yeah he's crying. I mean he should be, I mean, he's done wrong," said Wilbanks.
Olle is accused of writing 84 hundred dollars in hot checks to Poet's Family Restaurant. According to a CCPD Detective, Olle also has 39 complaints filed against him and has Wells Fargo Bank claiming he owes them $9,000. Even with this, Olle's attorney felt a $100,000 bond was too high so he asked the judge to lower it to $10,000. Judge Watts denied his request.
"I am concerned that you are a risk... A flight risk and that if you were able to be released on a low bond that you may in fact take off," said Watts.
Judge Watts says she has a long list of reasons to feel this way. On top of his other pending cases, she also says Olle fled to New York without telling anyone.
"The connection to the community is sketchy. You left town sir, and you did not advise your adopted family," said Watts.
So when it came down to it, Judge Watts denied a bond reduction. His bond will stay at $100,000 and he will remain in the Nueces County Jail.
Even though Olle's bond reduction was denied today, his lawyer says they will revisit the issue again in a few weeks. The prosecutor says Olle may go to trial in about two months.
