SAN PATRICIO COUNTY- Roy Hinojosa, the former Taft High School band director caught in a motel with a female student, is heading to jail for 90 days.
Once he has served jail time, he will be placed on 10 years probation. A judge ordered that during that time, Hinojosa must say 1,000 feet away from all private and public schools.
In May, Rodrigo "Roy" Hinojosa pleaded guilty to having an improper relationship with a student.
Hinojosa was arrested last November after he was caught in a motel room with a 17-year-old student.
He admitted to having a sexual relationship with the girl.
He wasn't charged with sexual assault because the girl is considered an adult. He was charged with having an improper relationship with a student because it is illegal in Texas for an educator to have a relationship with a student.
Meanwhile, the victim's father did talk to 6 News after today's hearing. Find out why he says he's not convinced the relationship between Hinojosa and his daughter is over, tonight on KRIS 6 News.
