CORPUS CHRISTI -- A former Orange Grove police officer pleaded guilty to felony theft charges earlier this month.
Daniel Jaramillo, 33, was charged with stealing nearly $4,000 in lawn equipment from Gulf Tractor Company in Corpus Christi in November 2011.
Court documents show Jaramillo tried to pay for the equipment with three checks he wrote on a closed account. An employee with the tractor company pressed charges against Jaramillo after he was unable to reach him.
As part of his plea agreement, Jaramillo is ordered to pay back $3,868.77 in restitution to the tractor company. He is also ordered to stay away from the company's property and the employee who pressed the charges.
Jaramillo could not be reached for comment. A representative with Gulf Tractor Company declined to comment.
Jaramillo is scheduled to be sentenced July 1.
