CORPUS CHRISTI - A former Orange Grove police officer who admitted to stealing thousands of dollars in equipment from a local tractor company couldn't repay the victim today.
Daniel Jaramillo pled guilty to felony theft a couple weeks ago after prosecutors say he wrote hot checks for nearly four-thousand dollars worth of equipment from Gulf Tractor Company.
Jaramillo made a deal with prosecutors to pay $3,800 in restitution in exchange for probation. But when Jaramillo showed up in court he was $1,300 dollars short. Judge Missy Medary threw out the deal and set a trial date for early August.
Jaramillo's attorney says he'll try and raise the rest of the money by next week and ask prosecutors to put the deal back on table.
