Former Carroll Teacher Sentenced for Child Pornography

CORPUS CHRISTI - A former Carroll High School teacher has been sentenced to just over nine years in federal prison for possession of child porn.

41-year-old Jesus Orta was arrested in September 2012 when police came to his home for a fight between Orta and his brother.

The brother told police that Orta had some child pornography videos which police say they found in his bedroom and in a dumpster near the home.

Jesus Orta plead guilty to the charges in November.

At the time, Orta worked for the Corpus Christi Independent School District as an English as a Second Language teacher with Carroll High School. He previously worked Mental Health and Mental Retardation State School and La Raza Runaway shelter.
