CORPUS CHRISTI -- Theft charges were dismissed today against the former owner of a used car dealership in Corpus Christi. Jan Goldstein, 60, the former owner of Premier Auto Service told us he's not a criminal and never stole money from his car buyers.

"They think that I'm a thief, that I stole money," Goldstein said.

He was arrested for theft back in November of 2010, after police said he withheld thousands of dollars from Value Bank. However, Goldstein maintains that he didn't steal anything.

"I didn't with hold any money from Value Bank, I had a floor plan which is a loan they gave me and because of the bad times in 2009 we got a behind a little bit," Goldstein said.

He mentioned the impact of the economy caused his business to slow down. "I said I needed more time to do it and instead of working with me they decided to shut me down," Goldstein added.

As a result of the delay in loan payments to Value Bank, Goldstein said, four different car buyers were never given their titles.

"The bank would not release the titles to the cars because I hadn't yet paid them off which I certainly would've done as soon as I got the money together," he said.

Goldstein says the whole case surfaced as a result of a sour relationship with that developed with Value Bank. "The bank decided I was a criminal they knocked me out of business and had me indicted and it's ridiculous," Goldstein said.

Even though his 18 year business was shut down he's been trying to reach an agreement with the bank. "When it happened I offered them a deal, that were still trying to offer them, they don't want to take it, I think they just want to see me in jail," Goldstein said.

We tried contacting Value Bank officials to get comment on the case but didn't hear back. "I have no idea why they're acting that way," Goldstein said.

As for Goldstein, his case was dismissed by the court for now. Attorneys said, the case will be reviewed by the DA's office, who will try to gather more evidence and re-indict Goldstein later this year.
