CORPUS CHRISTI - A man wanted on forgery charges out of San Antonio lead police on a brief chase down S.P.I.D. around noon Friday.
Detectives called for additional units to help arrest 44-year old Leonard Ramirez at La Palmera mall.
Ramirez jumped behind the wheel of a Ford F-250 pickup when he noticed officers arriving.
He took off down S.P.I.D. Heading towards Flour Bluff where an officer used spike strips to flatten two of his tires.
Ramirez stopped near the overpass at Waldron Road and according to police he had to be forcibly removed from the truck.
Officers say he received a scrape on his face.
Paramedics noticed he also had high blood pressure so he was taken to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital to be checked out.
While there Detectives planned to speak with him about forgery cases here in Corpus Christi.
In addition to forgery charges out of San Antonio, Ramirez now faces a felony charge for evading arrest.
