CORPUS CHRISTI - Nueces County Assistant Chief Deputy Pete Peralta died this morning.
His family tells us he went to the emergency room with flu-like symptoms Thursday, but throughout the night things got worse and his kidneys shut down before he suffered a heart failure. He was pronounced dead just before 6am today.
Peralta started working at the Sheriff's Office in 1981. His official last day was on December 31st.
Funeral arrangements are pending. Peralta was 54 years old.
