CORPUS CHRISTI - A flu vaccine designed specifically for the elderly may not be available this year. The flu zone high dose is four times stronger than regular flu shots and is meant for elderly people who are more at risk.
It's not available in the Coastal Bend because medical experts aren't convinced that it provides any more protection than the regular flu shot.
The Centers for Disease Control says it does create more antibodies to fight the flu but more research is needed.
For now, health officials say if you get the regular flu shot you should be okay.
