CORPUS CHRISTI - A Flour Bluff father and son heading home from a lacrosse game in San Antonio slammed head-on into another Corpus Christi man heading north on Interstate 37 last night.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says Nathaniel Garcia, 45, and Pablo Flores, 25, died when their vehicles collided. Garcia's son, 18-year-old Austin, is currently fighting for his life at University Hospital in San Antonio.
Officials say Garcia's vehicle was heading south in the northbound lanes of traffic just a couple miles north of Oakville. The crash is still under investigation.
Austin Garcia is a member of the Flour Bluff High School Cross Country team and competes with the Flour Bluff Lacross Club.
The Lacrosse Club just played their first ever playoff game against Smithson Valley Tuesday evening. The Garcias were on the way home when they crashed.
Pablo Flores, the driver of the vehicle, was a member of the 2005 Calallen High School football squad that competed for the state title.
