CORPUS CHRISTI - Local health officials have confirmed the first human West Nile virus case for this year in Nueces County.
The case involves an unidentified woman between 20 to 30 years of age.
She became ill just over two weeks ago and spent 3 days in the hospital.
The woman is out of the hospital now and has recovered.
Health officials remind residents to protect themselves against mosquitoes.
Avoid outdoor activities at dusk and dawn and use repellent with DEET.
You should also check your home for potential mosquito breeding grounds.
Empty out any standing water.
