First Friday Brings Breast Cancer Awareness

CORPUS CHRISTI - "First Friday" is a volunteer organization with a mission: To help save lives by increasing awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer.

The members the group have been living and working that mission since its founding in 1994. To this point, "First Friday" has paid for more than 16,000 screening mammograms for Coastal Bend residents, primarily through partnering with the Christus Spohn Health System.

The community is invited to attend an Interfaith Prayer Service and Breakfast on Friday, February 7, at 7:30 AM in the sanctuary of the Corpus Christi First United Methodist Church (900 South Shoreline). It is an effort to honor those who have been touched by breast cancer. A complimentary breakfast will be served immediately following the service.

For more information about "First Friday" or the free mammogram services offered, visit www.firstfridaycc.org.
