CORPUS CHRISTI- Fireworks safety and regulations for Fourth of July celebrations.
Fireworks are often used to mark special events and holidays. With the Fourth of July fast approaching it is important to be aware of safety and regulations enforced by the City of Corpus Christi officials.
Fireworks cause thousands of burns and eye injuries each year. Even the smallest of fireworks such as a sparkler gets up to 1200 degrees, and causes 16 percent of fireworks injuries.
The discharge of fireworks within city limits, or within 5,000 Ft. of city limits is prohibited.
Fireworks purchased can be taken into the the city, however they can't be discharged within city limits.
People can enjoy fireworks safely by following a few simple safety tips:
* If you want to see fireworks, go to a public show put on by experts such as the Big Bang Celebration.
* Do not use consumer fireworks
* Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby when discharging fireworks.
* Always keep children supervised at events where fireworks are used.
