Fireworks Rules within Corpus Christi City Limits

CORPUS CHRISTI - If you're planning on setting off fireworks tonight remember its illegal inside Corpus Christi city limits.

Earlier this year, the Police and Fire Departments lobbied for a change in city ordinances to allow people to bring fireworks inside the city limits.

The fireworks packages must remain unopened to comply with the law.

If you're caught inside the city limits with open packages, or setting off fireworks, you'll start off the new year paying a fine of up to $1,000 per package.

Police say if you want to report illegal fireworks activity you can call 886-COPS (2677).

To report gunfire call 9-1-1.
