Firefighter's Funeral Draws Hundreds of Colleagues

DALLAS (AP) - A Dallas firefighter killed last week after he was struck by a vehicle has been buried in a ceremony that drew hundreds of firefighters from across the state.

Funeral services for William Scott Tanksley were Monday in Terrell, east of Dallas. Burial came at Restland Cemetery's Garden of Honor in Dallas.

Tanksley was killed Feb. 10. Investigators say the 40-year-old was struck by a vehicle that had lost control on an icy highway overpass as he worked to clear an earlier auto wreck. He was knocked from the overpass and fell about 50 feet to Interstate 20 below.

Tanksley had been a Dallas firefighter for 14 years. He was married with three children.
