CORPUS CHRISTI-A local gym and the vacant building next to it burned, Thursday morning, in Robstown. The fire started just before 1:30am in the 400 blk. of East Main Street.
Robstown Fire Fighters were the first at the scene, and immediately called for help from Annaville, Bluntzer, and Corpus Christi.
Four fire fighters were hurt while fighting the blaze. A Corpus Christi fireman was taken to the hospital with burns to his arms and face. Three Robstown firemen were treated at the scene and returned to battling the fire.
The fire took about four hours to bring under control. At one point, there was a small explosion in the vacant building that led to all crews being pulled out of the fire, to fight it from the outside.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
