CORPUS CHRISTI - Three men arrested earlier this year for an alleged drug trafficking and money laundering ring plead guilty this morning in federal court. Four others charged in the conspiracy plead guilty earlier this year.
The following defendants are now awaiting sentencing in May when they face anywhere from 10 years to life in prison, plus a $10 million fine. Federal sentencing guidelines do not allow for early release.
Martinez and Guajardo are also charged with money laundering which carries a maximum 20 year sentence.
Prosecutors say the participants in the conspiracy delivered cocaine and methamphetamine to various drug dealers across Corpus Christi from 2008 to 2012. As part of the plea deal, Pena, Martinez and Guajardo agreed to forfeit several properties in town.
All of the defendants were arrested by DEA agents in early January raids at homes on Aaron Drive, Valor Drive, Brooks Drive, Christie Street, Cool Breeze Drive and Wool Drive.
Raul Leal Martinez and Julieann Gutierrez are free on bond until they are sentenced.
