Female Pedestrian Killed on Ayers Street

CORPUS CHRISTI - A female pedestrian is dead after being hit by a car near the intersection of Ayers and Roosevelt Drive around 6:30 this evening. The medical examiner has yet to arrive on the scene.

The victim's body is in the westbound lane of Ayers right in front of a shopping center that features a bingo hall.

The vehicle that hit the woman stopped immediately after the impact. Police have not provided details on what happened.

The woman's family members came to the scene right after the incident.

It may be some time before officers are able to clear the scene.
