CORPUS CHRISTI - U.S. Marshals, state troopers, and area prison officials continue their search for an inmate who walked away from a minimum security federal prison near Three Rivers.
Officials noticed Jose Guadalupe Aguilar, 28, was missing this morning. He was only serving a nine month sentence for violating his parole on a weapons charge. Aguilar was scheduled to be released in October.
The Brownsville native is 5'8" and weighs 155 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and grey shorts.
Authorities were using a helicopter, dogs and officers on horseback to search for Aguilar near the southern portion of the Choke Canyon Reservoir along Highway 72 this afternoon.
The Federal Corrections Institute just west of Three Rivers houses minimum and medium security federal inmates.
If you see Aguilar, do not approach him, as he is considered armed and dangerous. Call the U.S. Marshals Service at (361) 578-4932.
