CORPUS CHRISTI - A father and his teenage son were detained this afternoon after police noticed a stolen generator sticking out of the trunk of an Oldsmobile.
Contractors stopping for a bite to eat at a chinese restaurant had reported seeing a guy grabbing the generator out of their truck and taking off.
Police knew the license plate of the car, so they went over to Morris Street on the westside of town looking for it. Sure enough, the car was pulled over just two doors down from his own house.
The 40-year-old is facing a charge of auto burglary and possibly an additional theft charge. The 15-year-old son may face charges.
The construction workers were able to come by the scene to get their generator so they could get back to work.
