CORPUS CHRISTI - The owner of Tim's Market was shot and killed during a robbery this afternoon.
The family of Ben Mustafa confirms he did not survive his injuries.
Officers were told to lookout for a suspect who left in a red four-door car, possibly a Chevy Cobalt. Initial reports suggest the suspect was armed with a semi-automatic rifle.
Schools nearby the Ayers and Brownlee location were placed on lockdown until about 2pm, when CCPD officers detained 2 men at a home on 15th Street.
The car in the driveway fits the description of the car that left the store following the shooting.
26-year-old Del Victoria Cavazos, 26-year-old Arturo Navarro, and 26-year-old Daniel Garcia are all charged with capital murder because Mustafa was killed during a robbery.
Mustafa was a well-liked store owner who was known to carry a pistol with him while at work. We spoke with him a few years ago about a confrontation he had with another armed man in his store.
Everyone we spoke with today described him as a man who cared about his community.
