HOUSTON - A medical examiner has ruled the shooting death of a driver following a Houston-area wreck that killed two young brothers was a homicide.
A corner issued the preliminary ruling in the death of 20-year-old Jose Ines Banda. Brazoria County sheriff's investigator Dominick Sanders said Tuesday that the report also indicated Banda, who was shot in the head, had alcohol in his system.
No one has been named as a suspect in the shooting just minutes after Banda's car hit a pickup truck being pushed by the children Friday night in Alvin. Authorities say 12-year-old David Barajas II and his 11-year-old brother, Caleb, were helping their father move the vehicle after running out of gas.
A message left Wednesday with the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences wasn't immediately returned.
