Fatal Hit and Run, Suspect At Large

CORPUS CHRISTI - A man who was hit by a car has died, according to a family friend.

Now, police are searching for the driver who's responsible.

The accident happened just after nine last night on Weber Road near Brushwood.

Police say a 61-year-old man was walking across the street when an SUV hit him.

That vehicle kept going, and was last seen headed on the SPID access road.

Medics rushed the man to the hospital.

The family friend tells us he passed away about a half-hour after arriving to the hospital.

If caught, the hit and run driver faces felony charges.

An officer securing the scene had a close call, after another vehicle hit his patrol car.

The officer was checked out at the scene, and will be okay.
