CORPUS CHRISTI - It was a happy homecoming last night for a Portland soldier. When Lance Corporal Joshua Severson landed in Corpus Christi his family was there waiting for him. They held welcome home signs, waved American flags and cheered as he walked out of the terminal.
His family says they don't have any big plans scheduled, they just plan to relax and spend time together. Christi Turrubiates, Severson's sister said, "we're very excited that he's home today. We're going to go out to dinner and then probably get a drink because he's been gone way too long. Just bonding again."
Severson, who is a Marine, spent the past year on a tour-of-duty in Afghanistan. Now that he's home, he and his fiance plan to get married in a week.
