FLOUR BLUFF -- A family who lost a loved one on New Years Day is still unsure about what led up to the fatal shooting and wonder how they will give him a proper burial.

Robert Jones the victim's little brother says the family is having a hard time with the loss of Leonard Jones, 35, who was shot to death at his home in Flour Bluff.

"It's like a reality check because one day you're here and the next day you're gone," Robert said. "It was a bad situation I lost my brother at the wrong time and you know it's just hurtful."

Robert says his family has been struggling with Leonard's death and having a hard time coming up with the money to pay for funeral costs, they're looking to the public for help.

"For the rest of the week, we're going to be trying to sell plates to try to get my brother buried because we're having a hard time right now," Robert said. "We having baked chicken, butter potatoes, green beans, bread 6.50 plates." They will be serving them all week at the Aztec Apartments in Flour Bluff near Behmann Street.

Robert says his brother left behind four children. Leonard's family members set up a rest in peace memorial for him leaving flowers, sweet messages and keep sakes to remember him.

As for what happened the day of the shooting, officers arrested Patrick Dwayne Todd, 22, after a short standoff and charged him with murder. Robert says the family knew Todd.

"He was a neighbor down the sidewalk, a neighbor and he was alright, I never had any problems with him," Robert said.

Police say the shooting stemmed from an ongoing argument between the two men. Robert says on the day of the shooting, he and his family could sense something was wrong.

"I was unable to sleep, my mom she just kept saying that you know she felt like something bad was going to happen," Robert said.

No trial date is set for Todd but Robert says he will be there to see that justice is served for Leonard.
