ORANGE GROVE - A family of eight lost everything in a house fire in Orange Grove this morning. It was grandmother Sylvia Perez who risked her own life to save all five of her grandchildren after she noticed flames coming from the front of the house.
We're told she was making breakfast when the fire started. She made several trips into the burning home to get her sleeping grandchildren and husband out of the home.
She was taken to the hospital with first and second degree burns to her hands. No one else was injured.
There's nothing left of the home or belongings for the family to salvage. For now, they are staying with relatives and receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
