Family Loses Motor Home in Fire

CORPUS CHRISTI - A fire destroyed a family's motor home on Windows Drive. The fire came after the family made thousands of dollars in renovations to the vehicle.
Frank Zuniga tells us how he found out, "A neighbor down the street came and started ringing the doorbell like crazy, and knocking on my window. And the guy started screaming, 'Your mobile home is on fire! Your mobile home is on fire!'"
Sure enough, when Zuniga ran outside, he saw his the motor home parked in the driveway, up in flames.
It took firefighters only three minutes to contain the fire, working quickly to make sure it wouldn't spread to nearby trees or homes.
But it was not enough time to save it. Fire investigators believe the fire may have been electrical and started in the engine compartment. Thevehicle is now a total loss.
Zuniga says he purchased the vehicle three years and used it to take his ten grandchildren on family trips.
Zuniga says, "We had it for our grandchildren to travel with us to softball tournaments that they had, or different places that we went. We would take them with us."
Zuniga just spent $10,000 to make it as comfortable as possible, "We redid all the inside. Got rid of the carpet, put the tile in it. Put in a flat screen T.V. Redid the beds. We put a lot of money into the inside."
Thankfully no one was hurt, and Zuniga tells us he's insured and hopes to have a new one on the road as soon as possibe. Hopefully, he and the grandkids won't miss too many softball games.
