CORPUS CHRISTI - Two people were indicted today on capital murder charges in connection with the robbery and death of a 67-year-old man in August.
Antonio Arredondo and Esmeralda Benavides were indicted today on capital murder charges in connection with the robbery and death of Felipe Martinez. His son David Martinez was pleased to hear the news.
"It makes me feel good inside that... That things are settling and it's comfort for me and my family," said Martinez.
Back in August police say his father was found by his caretaker with a bad head injury. Someone had broken into his house and beaten him. He died a few days later from his injuries.
Benavides and Arredondo was first arrested on burglary charges and the charges were later upgraded. With their indictment David Martinez says there is one last thing his father would want him to do.
"I know he wants me to just forgive. You know? And I forgive," said Martinez.
A new bond on the capital murder charges has not been set yet. But now that these two people are charged for beating his father to death, Martinez says he feels justice has been served.
"I mean it's closure, it's closure for everybody," said Martinez.
