Family Dog Protects Missing Toddler

NORTH DAKOTA - Near rural Cooperstown, North Dakota, the whole county is talking about three-year-old Carson and the dog who saved him.

Carson Urness walked away from his farm-yard Monday night.

His mom Courtney searched, scoured the farm yard, then got that feeling something was wrong. She called 911.

A search team of nearly 200 showed up, a search plane and search dog.

But the family quickly realized the family dog, Cooper, was also missing. They hoped he was with Carson.

Firefighters on four-wheelers finally found him around two Tuesday morning laying under his protective dog about a mile away.

When he was a puppy, Cooper was saved by this family from the side of the road.
Cooper refused to leave Carson- keeping the boy dry and warm under his coat

Then he came back and Cooper followed the four wheeler all the way back.

Turns out, silence is what Courtney is left with, unable to describe the love that saved her son.

He saved him, if they would have called it off and couldn't find him last night, Cooper would have at least kept him warm

Today, it's all about payback story. A dog, his boy, a safe return home.
