CORPUS CHRISTI - A family is without a home tonight after a fire destroyed it. The fire happened late last night at the corner of Highland and Buford. At first, firefighters thought three to seven kids may have been inside the home when the fire started.
They searched the house and didn't find anyone. Flames tore up the back side of the home and even shot through windows. Firefighters knocked it out pretty quick but the fire still did a lot of damage.
Corpus Christi Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Schmidt said the house isn't livable. It has major fire damage, smoke damage and water damage throughout the home.
Investigators aren't sure how it started.
