ANNAVILLE - Police say someone sent their department an internet alert message, today, claiming there was a hostage situation on the 4200 block of Wandering Creek. A police spokesman says message gave false and specific details about a person inside a home with an AK-47. The message also mentioned two people were dead and two others were being held hostage.
SWAT teams and police surrounded the neighborhood and were working on developing a plan to enter the home when the homeowner got to the scene. A short while later, police discovered no one was inside the home and the message was, in fact, false. Now police are following leads to find out who sent the message and why. If caught, he or she could face charges of making a false report to a police officer.
