FALFURRIAS - A man accused of killing his wife is once again on the run.
Eusebuio "Chevo" DeLeon is accused of beating his wife to death in march of last year. The Jim Wells and Brooks County DA say they found out this morning that DeLeon cut his ankle monitor and is on the loose.
DeLeon is accused of killing his 34-year old wife Erika DeLeon with a five pound weight last year. After the Erika was killed he fled to Ann Arbor, Michigan where police later arrested him. Erika's mother, Deborah Cantu, says she not surprised he made a run for it again.
"We were just waiting for this day. We knew he was gonna do it," said Cantu.
She tells me since he already ran once, she was shocked when he was released out on bond. She says now more than ever proves he shouldn't have been allowed out on bond.
"They should have never, never let him out on bond. You know they knew he was a flight risk. I mean they knew that," said Cantu.
Erika DeLeon left behind three children she had with Eusebio. They now live Victoria with their grandmother, Deborah Cantu. She tells me Eusebio knows where they live. She says that fact scares her and her grandchildren. She tells me they're scared their father will show up at their front door and try to take them away.
"So I mean I just don't know what to think, or what to do about this because I can't do nothing. You know? Just be on the look out in the morning when I take the kids to school or you know... That's all I can do," said Cantu.
DeLeon has a trial date set for January 6th that still stands if he is caught he will remain in jail until that time. He does have a warrant out for his arrest, so if you know where he is or see him call police.
