JIM WELLS COUNTY - Authorities have captured drive-by shooting suspect, 18-year-old Jose Maria Carbajal, at a home on County Road 402 in Jim Wells County. Police say he's wanted in connection with a shooting that injured a 15-year-old girl this week in Falfurrias.
Carbajal was captured less than an hour ago during a raid at his mother's house. According to the Falfurrias Police Chief, the Jim Wells County Sheriff and the U.S. Marshall Service went to the home to make the arrest after learning Carbajal might be there.
Early Monday morning two women, a teenage girl, and an infant were sitting in car in front of a home at 314 N. Miller when Carbajal pulled up next to them and opened fire. The 43-year-old woman identified Carbajal to police when she reported the incident.
A 15-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was struck in the leg and taken to Corpus Christi hospital.
Police say this was the second time Carbajal had shot at the same house. According to police, the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between Carbajal and someone at the residence.
