CORPUS CHRISTI - Two women came forward to warn people about some men claiming to be police officers, who tried to pull them over. The scary situation happened earlier this week and the women, who did not want to be identified, say they are still concerned the men could come after them.
"Amanda" told us, "I'm telling them I'm, sorry, I'm sorry, someone is chasing us they are claiming they are CCPD. I need help, I need help!"
Now it's never fun when police pull you over on the road, but it's even worse, when the people pulling you over, aren't who they claim to be.
"He put a spotlight on us and told us to pull over, I didn't pull over. I was kind of blinded and I looked up and I seen he had regular clothes on, regular green Dodge truck, no signs on it no nothing, no lights no sirens, no nothing," said "Amanda."
"Amanda," who asked that we only release her first name, says she and a friend were headed down the road when a truck tried pull them over, then ran them off the road. The two men inside, yelled that they were Corpus Christi police officers.
The passenger in "Amanda's" car, who asked that we just call her "miss Taylor," says they started to doubt that the men were actually officers because of their unprofessional behavior.
"They were saying like CCPD pull over and they were calling us racial slurs and cussing us out and it was no way they could have been CCPD talking like that," said "Miss Taylor."
So, "Amanda" hit the gas, rocketing over speed bumps and blowing through stop signs, trying to evade the mysterious men. They called 911 and dispatchers told the women to stop at a well lit place or business. So, they screeched to a stop at a nearby bar, where bouncers helped scare the two men off.
Real officers arrived and told the women they would look into it.
"If we wouldn't have pulled off, and we wouldn't have left they would have killed us. They would have raped and killed us. It was either that or run us off the road," exclaimed "Miss Taylor."
Two days later they finally filed a police report, but the women claim the department isn't taking the matter seriously, and still worry for their own safety.
"Just knowing that he's still out there, nothing is been done and I'm not getting taken seriously," said "Amanda."
Police say the women did the right thing by pulling into a well lit public area and calling for help. But be advised, you shouldn't break the law, like running stop signs, while seeking help.

wake up Corpus Cops at Jul 24th 2010 12:25 AM
I am writing to let the Corpus Cops know that a simular thing happened a co-worker of mine a couple months ago. She was driving alone after 10 p.m. from Aransas Pass home and a lone male in a dark sedan tried to pull her over using a rigged up blue or blue and red flashing light, and when that didn't work he tried to run her off the road while she franticly called 911, she was going fast in the dirt side of the road with him right along side of her, and he had a ski mask on. The only thing about the car she noticed was that all of the make of car designs on the car had been removed, so this guy has planned this predatory behavior out and is after women. She managed to get him to notice she was on her cell phone, and he spead off while she took the next exit. Then she was afraid to go home. Was this a random assault or was he stalking her? These events are very damaging to a woman. She also felt the police didn't follow up when she called 911.
