HUNTSVILLE - Tomorrow's scheduled execution of a Corpus Christi man convicted of killing a 5-year old boy is now on hold.
Nueces County District Attorney Mark Skura says an attorney for 38-year-old Larry Hatten filed a motion claiming his client is not competent to face execution.
Hatten will now need to undergo a psychological evaluation. He was sentenced to death row for the fatal shooting of 5-year old Issac Jackson back in September 1995.
The child was sleeping with his mother when Hatten broke into their house on Sam Rankin Road and shot them.
The filing doesn't mean Hatten is off death row, his execution is just on hold pending the results of the exams.
