DALLAS - A federal lawsuit filed in Dallas this week says a former Dallas County Detention officer used excessive force when she slammed a handcuffed woman to the ground.
Rhonda Wells was handcuffed behind her back when she casually stepped over a red line and was body slammed to the ground by officer Rachel Graham.
Other officers reacted as the 47-year old Wells appeared to land face first.
According to the lawsuit Wells was knocked unconscious and suffered head and face trauma with shattered and broken teeth.
Officer Graham lost her job and pleaded guilty to official oppression.
The lawsuit seeks at least $75,000 from Graham to help cover medical and dental bills, pain and suffering, and lost wages.
