CORPUS CHRISTI - Three kids went to the hospital Monday night with serious cuts to their heads and bodies.
Police say their car was run off the road and into a tree by their mother's ex-boyfriend.
It all happened just before 8:00pm on Glazebrook behind Ray High School.
Afterwards, police say the ex-boyfriend drove away from the scene in his red Ford pickup.
None of the kids, all between 6 and 10 years old, were buckled up.
As a result, all three went to Driscoll Children's Hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening.
It took about an hour, but police finally tracked down Lionel Torres, the ex-boyfriend, at an address on 17th Street.
His pickup was also at the address.
Torres was arrested for Aggravated Assault.
The mother's new boyfriend, who was driving the car that hit the tree, also fled the scene on foot.
Police say that he may have had outstanding warrants, and left the scene to avoid being arrested himself.
