CORPUS CHRISTI - A federal judge is asking people to come forward who may be victims of environmental crimes by Citgo refinery.
A couple of weeks ago, we told you the sentencing began for the Citgo East plant, which was found to be operating two massive tanks illegally between January 1994 and May 2003.
But before a punishment could be delivered, a judge had to answer the question about possible victims of the crime. 300 people originally submitted statements back in 2007 but anyone else who might be affected can do so now.
If you live near the refinery and think fumes may have affected your health, call the Environmental Protection Agency at 713-209-48-92.
The deadline to submit is November 4th.
We contacted Citgo about the matter but they declined our request for an interview. All they would say is that they have addressed the issue of the tanks seven years ago, prior to the 2007 trial.
