CORPUS CHRISTI - Emergency Managers in Rockport met today to discuss for the first time how to be prepared for a tsunami.
With high mortality rates and damge costs in the last tsunami that hit Japan, these Emergency Managers are working to make sure that the Coastal Bend is ready, should one ever head our way.
Officials with the National Weather Service explained how a tsunami is created and how best to avoid the loss of life as high waters rush inland.
At this time, they say that the Coastal Bend doesn't have to worry about tsunamis triggerd by an earthquake, but rather the off chance of an asteroid splashing down in the Gulf or a tectonic shift of plates under the water.
Make sure to tune in tonight at 10pm to hear what they plan to do, if a tsunami heads for the Coastal Bend.
