CORPUS CHRISTI - An elderly woman is dead tonight after and early morning house fire on Stratton Drive.
Fire crews were called out to the area around 4am Sunday morning, after neighbors saw smoke and flames pouring out of the home.
When crews arrived, they discovered that two elderly people were inside, among the flames and smoke.
We're told that the elderly woman that lived there was bed-ridden and could not get out in time. She died from smoke inhalation and major burns to her body.
Her husband managed to get out with his life, though he was too disoriented and weak to get his wife out in time.
Still no word on what caused the fire.
More on this tragic story tonight at 10.
