CORPUS CHRISTI - A convenience store owner charged for the murder of a man who was stealing beer appeared in court today as attorneys worked out the conditions of his release on bond.
Rodney Duve's was held on a $35,000 bond for the shooting death of David Garcia, 39, over the weekend. He's already posted bond, but due to some confusion he was still being held.
The court ruled he can remain out on bond as long as he wears an ankle monitor and follows an 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. curfew.
Duve will be allowed to return to his shop, Duve's Quick Stop, while out on bond.
Police say the victim in this shooting was trying to leave the store with stolen beer when he was shot. The Medical Examiner says David Garcia died from a gunshot wound to the head.
There are quite a few factors a grand jury would need to consider in this case. On social media, most are asking why Duve is even charged if was protecting his property.
Further details on what happened, or if the men had prior encounters with each other, has not been released.
