Driver Surrenders on Intoxication Assault Charge

CORPUS CHRISTI - The attorney for 21-year-old Zalen Ellison says his client was never on the run to avoid charges of intoxication assault and has surrendered at the Nueces County Sheriff's Office.

Ellison is accused of crashing into a Green n Go cab after running a red light at Staples and Saratoga on December 5th.

Driver Tom Nelson is still being treated at Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital two weeks after the crash. Ellison was also taken to the hospital that night, but was released.

The warrant for his arrest was just issued on Friday.
