PORT ARANSAS - A man has come forward to police claiming he is the person involved in a hit and run that injured a Port Aransas teen last week.
According to 17-year-old Jake Dubose's mother, he suffered a fractured eye socket and road rash when hit by a truck on Wednesday evening while crossing the street at South Station and East Avenue J.
Police say around 4pm Monday an 18-year old man came down to the department to confess that he left the scene. Police say the man did not know what he hit that night, but eventually realized it was a person and decided to turn himself in.
As of today the driver is not under arrest. The case will be presented to the Nueces County District Attorney for review. It will be up to a grand jury to determine if charges should be filed in the case.
