Driver Runs Red Light, Crashes, Ejected

CORPUS CHRISTI - Two people are in the hospital, after an overnight crash on the city's southside.

Police say, an officer was behind a white pickup on Weber Road near the McArdle intersection, when another truck ran a red light and slammed into the pickup.

The driver responsible for the crash was thrown out of the car.

But police say things could have turned out much worse.

Lt. James Gray of CCPD said, "The driver of the at-fault vehicle was unconscious, initially. He is moving around. He's been transported to Memorial; it does not appear to be life-threatening."

A passenger in the other truck had some minor injuries.

Officers are still investigating the accident. In the meantime, the driver is still being treated at the hospital and has not been identified.
