CORPUS CHRISTI - The bomb squad had a late night after a routine traffic stop turned into a drug bust in Flour Bluff.
Around 10:15 p.m., a police officer pulled over a truck for failing to use a turn signal along S.P.I.D. Police say the driver agreed to allow the officer to search the truck.
The officer quickly found materials used to operate a mobile meth lab.
Police said it looked the driver of the truck was taking the materials somewhere to proceed with the final step to turn the substances into meth.
The bomb squad was called out to handle the hazardous material.
Lt. Ward with the Corpus Christi Police Department said the material could have killed officers at the scene, but they responded properly.
Police took the substances somewhere where they would not hurt any one and could be disposed of properly.
Dale Johnson, 23, is now facing charges that include possession of a controlled substance and possession of material to make a meth lab.
