CORPUS CHRISTI - You wouldn't think of an upscale rummage sale as the first place to shop for some of your best clothes but the Dress For Success event gave shoppers some very affordable opportunities.
"I mean you can't beat a 2-piece business suit for twenty dollars, nothing in the front room is over twenty dollars," explained Executive Director Cathy Colomo Riojas.
The store inside Sunrise Mall even have a designer room with racks and racks of clothing where everything is at least 75% off retail value.
This weekend's fundraiser helps the organization do more than just contribute to improving the wardrobe for disadvantaged women.
"We help them by providing free services such as career training and job interview skills," said Colomo Riojas.
"Definitely helps them with their appearance and giving them some self-confidence to go in that interview dressed nicely, with a professional look," said shopper Laura Rogers.
The organization has twelve referral agencies that work to identify women in need.
"Everybody has a sister, a mom, a friend in need, and you know, disadvantaged means many different things and as a person of this community and wanting to help empower other women it's very rewarding, especially when some of these women say they appreciate it," explained Colomo Riojas.
Items like shoes, clothing, jewelry, and other household items are donated and the proceeds benefit the Dress For Success Foundation.
